Hi everyone, this is Laksh. I developed London Bus Buddy, and I’m grateful for everyone who has used it over the past seven years, in spite of my difficulty in keeping up with everyone’s requests.
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that London Bus Buddy has been de-listed from the App Store, and will within 24 hours no longer be publicly available there.
As many of you know, the app hasn’t been updated in a few years, and a lot of things have changed since then with both TFL’s data and the prevalence of other apps. Back in 2011, there were no other apps that offered the scope of services that London Bus Buddy offered – and completely for free, too! Since 2011, I’ve been busy with college, a new job, and political organizing for the communities closest to my heart, and have unfortunately not had as much time to support the app as I’d hoped.
I am proud of how this app has helped over 145,000 London bus users at no cost, and I am proud that we raised over $3500 in ad revenue before iAds was shut down. The money we raised went to support Muskaan, an Indian charity that provides education opportunities for underprivileged children in Bhopal. I never would have imagined that this small app would have been able to help so many people, and take so much from advertising corporations to give to those in need. Thank you for your support.
